Field Update - Aiea District Park - Transformer Failure:

There is no estimate or time frame regarding future repairs to the Aiea field's lighting system.  Any updates the club receives will be posted on this website.

Thank you to the instructors, students, other members and volunteers who endured limited lighting on the field during this past session.  We greatly appreciate everyone's flexibility, interest, and support!

Friday, 09/17/2010, 8:00 p.m.

Hard Court Lighting:  The Parks Department submitted a special request to have the tennis / basketball court timer reset to turn the lights on at an earlier time.  There's an island-wide, systematic schedule that the crews follow for the timer adjustments.  However, due to the situation at Aiea District Park, we hope the park director's request will be of high priority.  Once this adjustment is made, there should be a little more lighting for the training classes currently on the field.

Transformer Failure:  Upon further inspection, other complicating factors have been uncovered that will add to the overall cost and timeliness of the repairs.  We'll probably need to be prepared for a lengthy outage.

Instructors:  Please contact & discuss future class meetings with your students.  Parks & Recreation will allow OTCH to use the basketball courts for training classes if they are vacant, however we are NOT allowed to use the tennis courts.

Thursday, 09/09/2010, 10:00 p.m. - Parks & Recreation informed OTCH that parts to repair the damaged transformer are unavailable locally.  As a result, they estimate that repairs will be delayed for APPROXIMATELY one to two months, possibly longer.

Instructors:  Please contact & discuss future class meetings with your students.  Parks & Recreation will allow OTCH to use the basketball courts for training classes if they are vacant, however we are NOT allowed to use the tennis courts.

Thursday, 09/02/2010, 4:00 p.m. - Last night's malfunction caused severe damage to the transformer.  Time frame for repair and/or replacement uncertain at this time.  Parks & Recreation requires additional time to research the situation.  The field will remain dark at least through next week, and possibly?/probably? longer.  The lights to the tennis and basketball courts remain operational.

Wednesday, 09/01/2010, 8:00 p.m. - Lighting for the "field" area is not operational at this time.  General cause of the outage due to electrical malfunction; actual problem and length of outage unknown.  We will post updates as we receive more information.
